Solving linear equations (utilizing the distributive property)
This lesson is intended to help teachers assess how well students are able to create and solve linear equations using the distributive property. In particular, it aims to help teachers identify and assist students who have difficulty using variables to represent quantities in real-world or mathematical problems and solving word problems leading to equations of the form px + q = r and p(x + q) = r.
It is designed for students in grade 7 and provided by the Shell Center for Mathematics. Click the link for support on implementing formative assessment lessons.
